Sandwich Express in Boston's Financial District Is Closing

A sandwich shop that is popular with workers in Boston's Financial District is getting ready to shut its doors for good after approximately a quarter century in business.

According to a poster on the Chowhound site, Sandwich Express on Summer Street is closing, possibly because of expensive rent (though this has not been confirmed). While the poster says that it will be shuttering on Friday (July 31), a phone call placed to the shop indicates that its last day in operation will be Thursday.

Sandwich Express, which has been in business for at least a decade, is known for its soups, salads, and hot and cold sandwiches. as well as its to-go breakfast items.

The address for this soon-to close in downtown Boston is: Sandwich Express, 99 Summer Street, Boston, MA, 02110.

[July 29 update: Eater Boston mentions that while Sandwich Express is indeed closing tomorrow, the 12 suburban locations of Elena's Cafe--which the people behind it also own--will remain in operation. (Elena's generally serves business workers and also does catering.)]
