Skipjack's in Boston's Back Bay Is Closing

A pair of local seafood restaurants is going to be down to just one, as its Boston location is closing.

The Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog is reporting that Skipjack's in the Back Bay is shutting its doors, with a source close to the restaurant saying that the Clarendon Street spot could be closing within a month. The post says that their location at Patriot Place in Foxboro will remain in operation.

Skipjack's first opened in Boston in 1988, offering an array of seafood options such as oysters, mahi mahi, shrimp, clams, scallops, salmon, and lobster. A couple of other locations have closed over the past few years--one on Worcester Road (Route 9) in Natick and another on Needham Street in Newton.

The address for Skipjack's in the Back Bay is 199 Clarendon Street, Boston, MA, 02116. Its website can be found at http://www.skipjacks.com/

[November 6 update: According to a poster on the Chowhound site (and confirmed by the restaurant's Facebook page), Skipjack's in Boston's Back Bay is now closed.]

[August 6, 2015 update: It appears that a new restaurant will not be moving into the former Skipjack's space in the Back Bay, as a tweet from @ConciergeBoston shows an alteration permit on the premises, saying that it will apparently become a Soul Cycle Studio.]
