Update: Deal Falls Through for Wagamama to Open in Boston's Fort Point Neighborhood

[Ed note: This article was updated on October 3 to reflect the fact that the lease deal for this restaurant has fallen through (though it continues to look for a space in the area).]

It looks like a small global chain of Japanese noodle houses may be opening a fifth location in the Boston area, and this one is coming to one of the city's hottest neighborhoods for dining.

A Twitter post from @FortPointer and an earlier article from the Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog indicate that Wagamama is planning to open on Summer Street in the Fort Point section of Boston, with @FortPointer saying it will open sometime in 2015. Once it opens, the new Wagamama will join existing locations in Faneuil Hall, the Prudential Center in the Back Bay, Cambridge's Harvard Square, and MarketStreet Lynnfield.

The Boston-area outlets of Wagamama are the only locations of the chain in the entire country, with others being in various parts of the world, including Belgium, Greece, New Zealand, Qatar, and Switzerland.

The address for this proposed Japanese noodle house in Fort Point is: Wagamama, 320 Summer Street, Boston, MA. 02210, The website for the chain can be found at http://www.wagamama.us/

[October 3 update: According to a source, the lease deal for Wagamama to open at 320 Summer Street has fallen apart, and the chain is now looking for a new space in the area. Our source also tells us that the 320 Summer Street space is available once again due to the deal falling through.]
