New Restaurant Planned for the Locke-Ober Space in Boston's Downtown Crossing

It looks like a couple of people behind a restaurant in Boston's Back Bay are planning on opening a new dining spot within one of the city's most iconic spaces.

Universal Hub is reporting that Christopher Jamison and Mark Malatesta (who are involved with Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar on Dartmouth Street) are looking to open a restaurant in the former Locke-Ober space on Winter Place in Downtown Crossing. The article says that the plan would be to feature New American and international fare and keep the carved wooden bar along with the basement room (which would become a function room) and the back room (which would turn into a library bar), with live music being offered. The article mentions that the pair want to make the unnamed eatery a "first-class dining destination and supper club" but with a more modern menu that would include tapas.

Locke-Ober closed its doors for good in October of 2012 after being in business since 1875.

The address for this proposed restaurant is 3 Winter Place, Boston, MA, 02108.
