Kaya Restaurant in Cambridge Has Closed; May Be Replaced by Hotel with Same Name

A Korean restaurant in Cambridge has closed its doors, and it may be replaced by a hotel that would possibly have the same name as the dining spot.

Eater Boston is reporting (via Chowhound) that Kaya on Mass. Ave. in the Porter Square section of the city has shuttered, with the Chowhound poster saying that the "insides looked like a scene after a zombie uprising or drunken frat party or both." According to EB, it appears that a hotel is going to be built at the Kaya site, with an earlier Cambridge Chronicle article stating that it could be called the Kaya Hotel, while MTMA architects says that it may be called the Porter Hotel, or possibly the Porter Square Hotel. Plans for the hotel include a restaurant on the ground floor, though it is not known whether it would be called Kaya (it may remain a Korean dining spot, according to the Chowhound poster).

The address for this now-closed eatery in Porter Square was: Kaya, 1924 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02140.
