Espresso Royale Caffe on Newbury Street to Become Pavement Coffeehouse

A cafe in Boston's Back Bay is getting ready to change over to another location of a coffee house (under the same ownership), mirroring a transformation that occurred nearby earlier this year.

According to their Facebook page, Espresso Royale Caffe on Newbury Street is going to become another Pavement Coffeehouse, joining locations on Boylston Street near where the Back Bay and the Fenway meet and Gainsborough Street near Northeastern University. The Gainsborough Street location had a similar changeover, going from an Espresso Royale Caffe to a Pavement Coffeehouse in March of this year. Their Facebook page states that the Newbury Street shop will be closed from October 15 to November 5, though it is unknown whether the new Pavement will open at that point.

The transformation means that a sole Espresso Royale Caffe remains on Commonwealth Avenue at Boston University; we are currently trying to find out the status of that shop, and will post an update here as soon as we find out.

[October 31 update: According to their Facebook page, the new Pavement Coffeehouse on Newbury Street should be opening in about a week. Also, as mentioned earlier, the Espresso Royale Caffe location on Commonwealth Avenue will also be turning into a Pavement Coffeehouse at some point.]

[November 6 update: A new post on their Facebook page indicates that the latest Pavement Coffeehouse will be opening on Newbury Street this Friday (November 9).]

The first Pavement Coffeehouse opened on Boylston Street in April of 2010, taking over the space where Jack's Drum Shop had been.

The address for the new Pavement Coffeehouse in the Back Bay is 286 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02115. Their website is at http://www.pavementcoffeehouse.com/
