A food competition that focuses on burgers is on its way to South Boston in August.

An email from Regan Communications indicates that Boston Magazine's "Battle of the Burger" will take place on Tuesday, August 7 at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal, with the event going from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (6:00 PM start for VIP). The cook-off will bring together chefs from a number of area restaurants, including 80 Thoreau, 5 Napkin Burger, Bond, Church, The Fireplace, Four Burgers, Olde Magoun's Saloon, Russell House Tavern, Stephanie's on Newbury, Tasty Burger, and others, with picks being made based on more than 23,000 reader votes being cast to finalize the top 20 burgers in Boston. In addition to sampling burgers from the participating restaurants, guests will also enjoy complimentary beverages, socialize with chefs and fellow food lovers, and vote for the best burger, with the winner being announced at the end of the evening.

Live entertainment will be provided at the Battle of the Burger event, along with a cookbook signing by Andy Husbands from Tremont 647. Other food items will be available as well.
