The Otherside Cafe in the Back Bay of Boston Is Closing (for Real This Time)

A vegetarian cafe and beer bar in Boston's Back Bay that had nearly been forced to close earlier this year is shutting its doors for real this time.

A post on Adam's Hospitality & Tourism Industry Blog indicates that The Otherside Cafe at the corner of Newbury Street and Mass. Ave. will be closing for good later this month. A Twitter post and picture from the eatery shows that they are planning to close in 26 days, which would put the closing at or around the end of April.

Last November, we reported that The Otherside Cafe and another restaurant called Island Hopper (which has since closed) might be shutting down to make way for the Minnesota-based furniture chain Room & Board, but the deal apparently fell through in December, giving The Otherside Cafe a new lease on life.

It is not yet known why this restaurant is closing; as soon as we receive more information, we will post an update here.

[April 6 update: Eater Boston has reported that The Otherside Cafe is apparently looking for a new location, and if it does reopen elsewhere, the place may go by a new name.]

[April 26 update: Based on a Facebook post from the restaurant, it appears that the last day for The Otherside Cafe will be this Saturday (April 28).]

The address for The Otherside Cafe is 407 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02115.
