The Bearded Pig Is Opening in Union Square in Somerville

It looks like a new barbecue spot is on its way to the Union Square section of Somerville.

The Eater Boston site is reporting that The Bearded Pig is looking to open a brick-and-mortar BBQ place somewhere in Union Square. The article, which gets its information from the Twitter page of a Somerville catering company by the same name, mentions that the new spot may be open by the early summer, and that the person behind it used to manage a barbecue place in Washington, DC.

The menu for The Bearded Pig's catering operation includes such items as pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, sausage, St. Louis Spare Ribs, chicken wings, Brunswick stew, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, Texas corn pudding, deviled eggs, and banana pudding. Their website can be found at http://www.thebeardedpig.com/

[April 3 update: Eater Boston gives a bit more information on The Bearded Pig restaurant, including the fact that it will be at 445 Somerville Avenue and will be a quick-casual spot with counter service only and about 30 to 40 seats. The restaurant menu will be a slightly more limited version of the catering menu, and the person behind it is hoping to be able to serve beer and wine there.]

[July 26 update: According to their Facebook page, The Bearded Pig is opening its doors on Monday (July 30) at 11:00 AM.]
