Scholars American Bistro and Lounge Opening Near Boston's Downtown Crossing

A new restaurant and lounge is getting ready to open on the edge of Boston's Downtown Crossing, and the people behind it also happen to run three other spots in the city.

According to the restaurant's website, Scholars American Bistro and Lounge is planning on opening on School Street (between Tremont Street and Washington Street), with the address indicating that it will be moving into the space where Talbots used to be. The website mentions that Scholars, which will be open for both lunch and dinner, will focus on refined American cuisine, including dishes with pork belly, rabbit, and beef tongue, and inventive cocktails will also be featured. The space will have two bars, a billiards room, and a raw bar. There will be live entertainment at Scholars, including a jazz brunch on weekends.

An earlier Boston Herald article had mentioned that the 300-seat Scholars is being opened by the folks who are behind Emmet's Irish Pub and 6B Lounge Martini Bar, both of which are just up the road on Beacon Street. The owners also run Crossroads Irish Pub in the Back Bay.

The Herald states that Scholars may be opening in March. [April 11 update: According to UrbanDaddy, Scholars could be opening as early as this Tuesday (April 12).]

The address for this new restaurant in the Downtown Crossing area of Boston is: Scholars American Bistro and Lounge, 25 School Street, Boston, MA, 02108. The phone number is (617) 248-0025. And the website can be found at http://www.scholarsboston.com/
